One day, an 8 year old parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Dutchess County went up to his pastor after Mass and handed him a jar of coins and bushel of apples. He wrote this note:
"The reason why I gave the apples and the jar of money was for the people in need. I wanted to help them. It was the money I earned helping my family. I gave the apples in case they were hungry."
From Father Blenkle
One Sunday, a few weeks ago, during Commitment Weekend, a young boy quietly walked up to me after Mass, handing me a jar filled with coins. The young child shyly said that he, "wanted to give to people in need;" I was so touched by his kindness and faith. I wanted to share this child's thoughtful sacrifice with you: instead of buying candy or treats he wanted to share his gifts with his Church.
