1. Who benefits from the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal?
The Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal funds the vast pastoral, charitable, and educational outreach of the archdiocese. Its beneficiaries include: struggling parishes and schools, St. Joseph’s Seminary, the St. John Vianney Center for Retired Clergy, Catholic Charities, and archdiocesan ministries including the Family Life Office, Respect Life Office, Young Adult Outreach, Youth Faith Formation, Black and Hispanic Ministry, University Apostolate, and the Public Policy Office.
2. What is the goal of the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal?
The overall goal for the Cardinal’s Appeal is $21 million. However, because the needs of the Church in New York exceed $21 million, it is beneficial for our ministries and apostolates to be as successful as possible.
3. Does my parish benefit from The Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal?
The Cardinal’s Appeal benefits the entire archdiocese. Much of the money is made available to support parishes that are in financial difficulty. In addition, parishes receive back 60% of what they raise over their parish Appeal goal.
4. Why should I give to the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal?
The Archdiocese of New York exists not only to care for the spiritual needs of the 2.5 million Catholics who worship in its parishes, but also to serve anyone who comes to the Church seeking help. While we first and foremost encourage all Catholics to support their local parish through regular offertory giving, we hope that many will also support the needs of the broader Church to help their brothers and sisters in Christ across the archdiocese.
